Veterans Integrated Service Network 2 Announces New Medical Center Director - The Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) is pleased to announce the appointment of Bruce Tucker as the new director of the VA Finger Lakes Healthcare System. Mr. Tucker will oversee delivery of health care to the VA Finger Lakes Healthcare System including five community-based outpatient clinics (CBOCs) located in Upstate New York. How Moral Injury and Suicide Prevention are Related - Guest speakers from VA Center of Excellence will present research findings and data on Veteran suicide and Veteran suicide risk. Marek Kopacz PhD, MD, from the Department of Veterans Affairs Center of Excellence for Suicide Prevention at the Canandaigua VA Medical Center will be a guest speaker for the Livingston County presentation on suicide prevention in rural communities. Disabled American Veterans (DAV) Donate Two Vans to Provide Veterans in the Greater Rochester Area - DAV Chapter 4 (Canandaigua) and DAV Chapter 15 (Rochester) each donated a van to provide Veterans in the Greater Rochester area transportation to and from their VA appointments. Veterans Day Celebration - On Sunday, November 11, the Canandaigua VA Medical Center will host its annual Veterans Day ceremony and musical salute. FOUR CHAPLAINS MEMORIAL SERVICE - The Four Chaplains Memorial will honor the selfless sacrifice of four U.S. Army Chaplains along with close to seven hundred lives lost when the U.S.S. Dorchester was mortally struck eighty miles off the shores of Greenland on February 3rd, 1943. The four U.S. Army chaplains of different faiths - Methodist, Jewish, Protestant and Catholic - each gave away their life preservers and their chances for survival when their ship. (02/02/2016)
