Jackie Sullivan is a retired Chaplin who began to share her love of clay sculpture with Veterans.  Jackie volunteers once a week teaching Veterans the art of sculpting clay into abstract pieces of art, mugs and clay figurines.

Hobbies in the arts are associated with many benefits such as:

  • Promotes relaxation
  • Improves self-esteem
  • Encourages socializing
  • Enhances fine motor skills
  • Provides a form of expression
  • Helps take one’s mind off physical pain

Jackie feels that volunteering is a way to give back to those who have served. Jackie says, “Clay sculpting gives Veterans the opportunity to see things in a different way and lets them express themselves.”
