VA’s 2012 Excellence in Nursing Program Awards
Do you know a VA Nursing Hero- a nurse, nursing assistant or health technician- who cares for America’s Heroes with compassion and expertise? Would you like to nominate someone for an award that recognizes their special care to our special Veterans?
Nominations for the VA’s 2012 Excellence in Nursing Program Awards are now being accepted.
Anyone can nominate a Nursing Assistant or Health Technician, LPN or RN for these awards.
The Secretary’s Awards Program for Excellence in Nursing annually honors one Registered Nurse (RN) in a staff nurse role and one in a non-staff nurse role, i.e. advanced practical nurse, nurse manager, nursing Instructor, etc,. as well as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN)/ Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN), and a Nursing Assistant (NA) or Health Technician (HT) actively engaged in the care of patients at a Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) facility. The recipients’ contributions to the care of patients in any VA health care setting are patient-centered and demonstrate such excellence as to merit recognition from peers. This award is given only one time to an individual.
A local committee will review and select one nominee from each category. Nominees from VISN 2 will be reviewed by a VISN group and one VISN-wide nominee from each category will be forwarded to Central Office for review at the National level.
For more information and nomination forms, please contact Dawn Smith, Secretary for Associate Director of Patient Nursing Services, Canandaigua VAMC at (585)393-7202 or e-mail at Dawn.Smith8@va.gov.
Nominations must be submitted via e-mail by November 7, 2011
