Canandaigua VA Medical Center
2011 Nursing Staff of the Year Awards
The Department of Veterans Affairs (VA), our nation’s largest single employer of nurses, joins the American Nurses Association in honoring America’s nursing professionals who are dedicated to providing high quality health care while promoting health and caring for patients throughout their lives. Nationwide, the VA employs over 77,000 nurses.
This year’s Nursing Week theme is “Nurses: Trusted to Care”. For the 11th year in a row, nurses continue to outrank other professions in Gallup's annual Honesty and Ethics survey. Eighty-one percent of Americans say nurses have "very high" or "high" honesty and ethical standards. Craig S. Howard, Medical Center Director and Patricia Lind, Associate Director for Patient Nursing Services, are honored to work with “the nursing heroes who care for America’s heroes with integrity and dedication”.
Annually, National Nursing Week begins on May 6 and ends on May 12, to honor Florence Nightingale, founder of nursing as a modern profession, on her birthday. Throughout the week, nursing staff at the Canandaigua Medical Center and the Rochester VA Outpatient Clinic will be honored with recognition ceremonies and educational events.
The Canandaigua Medical Center and the Rochester VA Outpatient Clinic’s 2011 Nursing Staff of the Year are:
