The VA Healthcare Network Upstate New York – VISN 2 is committed to developing a highly-skilled, customer-focused workforce of leaders for the 21st century.  A specific learning employee development curriculum has been developed to further the skills defined in the High Performance Development Model’s Core Competencies.

We are proud to announce the graduation of our most recent ECHO students; Wanda Martinez, Sheryl Palmer, Shelly Cuthbertson and Jacquiline Payne.

The purpose of The (ECHO) Expanding Your Career & Healthcare Opportunities Program is to help us “grow our own” workforce.  The emphasis is on knowledge paired with career advising.  ECHO students already need to have a foundation of knowledge that includes strong reading, math, and computer skills.  The ECHO Program brings education to the worksite using interactive technology and prepares employees to enter local certificate or degree programs.  It is a five month program and covers topics like medical terminology, anatomy, physiology and medical ethics. Students identify career advisors and mentors which is critical for successful outcomes.
