Phenomenal VA Woman Award Ceremony

In Celebration of National Women’s Equality Day, on August 23, the Canandaigua VA Medical Center’s Federal Women’s Special Emphasis Program Workgroup held a Phenomenal VA Woman Award Ceremony.

The ceremony included a speakers panel with Linda Dietsche, Nancy Swanson, and Darlene Trytek, who spoke about their military and VA experiences and also what being a phenomenal woman means to them.

Sixteen women were nominated for the award. This year winners of 2012 Phenomenal VA Woman Award were:

• Jeanette Gartland Creighton
• Darcie Hutchinson
• Lori Ann Jacobson
• Sue Nan Jehlen
• Melissa Kropf
• Wanda Martinez
• Denise Slocum
• Meg Vandermolen
• Mary Anne Vitticore

The program closed with the Jacqueline O’Shay Haas reading the poem “Phenomenal Women” by Maya Angelou.
